Miles de personas recuperan sentimiento de nacionalismo en el medio oeste.<\/h5>\n<p>An estimated 400,000 spectators gathered in <a title=\"Chicago\" href=\"https:\/\/www.readers.id\/en\/tag\/chicago\">Chicago<\/a>&#8216;s <a title=\"La Villita\" href=\"https:\/\/www.readers.id\/en\/tag\/little-village\">La Villita<\/a> neighborhood on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2026, for the 55th annual <a title=\"Desayuno VIP\" href=\"https:\/\/www.readers.id\/en\/tag\/mexican-independence-day\">Desayuno VIP<\/a> <a title=\"MAPA\" href=\"https:\/\/www.readers.id\/en\/tag\/parade\">MAPA<\/a>, marking a vibrant resurgence after reduced turnout during immigration crackdowns the prior year.<\/p>\n<p>Organized by the Little Village Chamber of Commerce, the route stretched along 26th Street from Albany Avenue to Kostner Avenue, featuring floral floats, dancers, traditional horse riders, and grand marshal Adriel Favela.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I know last year, the parade was a little bit gloomy,&#8221; said Ricardo Flores, general manager of the Little Village restaurant Mi Tierra En La Villita.<\/p>\n<p>Flores stated that his establishment had previously lost half of its customer base during the peak of the 2025 immigration operations.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This year, it\u2019s not still at its full potential, I would say, but at least \u2026 morale is there,&#8221; said Flores.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that high levels of caution previously kept residents indoors regardless of legal status.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It really discouraged everyone. Even people who have (legal) status weren\u2019t really going out, because they just didn\u2019t want to be harassed,&#8221; said Flores.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the parade&#8217;s kickoff, the restaurant hosted a breakfast attended by Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson. Pritzker later marched in the procession ahead of his November reelection campaign.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"oduu-widget oduu-posts-related\" role=\"complementary\" aria-label=\"Also Read\">\n<div class=\"oduu-widget-content\">\n<div class=\"oduu-article-item\">\n<div class=\"oduu-article-text\">\n<p>Neighborhood residents expressed satisfaction with the return of regional traditions despite ongoing security concerns.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I feel like recently there\u2019s been more things going on, not just with the neighborhood itself, but also with ICE agents. There\u2019s been a lot of fear,&#8221; said Yesi Murillo, 20, who grew up in Little Village.<\/p>\n<p>Murillo noted an increased police presence along the parade route, which she welcomed due to recent local gang violence.<\/p>\n<p>Spectators of all ages lined 26th Street throughout the day as music and floats filled the corridor.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I\u2019m sure it\u2019s going to get loud when that happens,&#8221; said Jonathan Zamora, 18, who watched the procession from his doorstep with his dog.<\/p>\n<p>The morning schedule also featured athletic events organized by the nonprofit New Life Centers.
